Recently, Professor Wang Xinming of the School of Physics, Xidian University, has made new progress in the study of the evolution of the original planetary disk, with two related single-author papers published in The Astrophysical Journal, a top international journal in the field of astronomy and astrophysics.

In this study, Mr. Wang Xinming extended the traditional one-dimensional original planetary disk density evolution equation that has been used for decades to a new evolution equation group. A large-scale numerical calculation program has been proposed for efficient equation solving with success in the solution of many numerical problems. The research was supported by the NSFC and International cooperation platform.

The "protoplanetary disk" is a dusty gas disk surrounding a young star. The disk contains all the materials needed to form planets. Under the influence of static electricity and gravity, the matter in the protoplanetary disk keeps converging and finally forms a planet.

The study of the protoplanetary disk belongs to the category of astrophysics, which is an important branch of physics. Astrophysics research is an important engine for the development of basic disciplines. In recent years, the Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to astrophysicists many times. While deepening our understanding of the universe, astrophysics promotes the birth of many new technologies in the process of exploration. Therefore, astrophysics is not only "high in the sky", but also down to earth, bringing meaningful change to and even fundamental transformation of our life.
